ARE YOU A PERSON OF ACTION?
Are you a doer? A person of action who not only talks about doing something but actually takes steps to make it happen? I’m a bit of both, and it definitely depends on the circumstances whether I’m a doer or a dreamer, but each day I’m becoming braver.
Being Brave
I think my writing makes me braver and more courageous because the stories I share are usually about my experiences. Click To TweetIt takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there as a writer and a speaker!
When I write, I am vulnerable since I’m sharing my innermost thoughts and experiences, peeling back the layers. As I peel back the layers of my life, I am exposing myself to judgment, criticism, and hurt. And, to be the recipient of unkind comments or judgment is never easy or comforting.
Take Action
Every story I share and each word I write, I am stepping out in faith as I take action and share my testimony. I prepare by studying God’s word. God’s expectations for us are to read His word and reflect on it. God also asks us to read His word and act on it. Share it, preach it, write it, shout it but do something with the word! We are called to live His word every day.
Put the word into action. If you think hearing is what matters most, you are going to find you have been deceived.
God the Father is the giver of all things and is looking for every opportunity to bless us. But many people have difficulty trusting and receiving good things, even when those things come from God. The problem is that we not only have trouble trusting God’s work in our lives, but we also don’t always respond to God’s voice. People often hear the Scriptures but don’t really listen. People store truths in their brains but never put them to use. For James, the only good religion is religion lived out every day.
A Check in My Spirit
Have you ever felt the nudge within you to share with a complete stranger in need? That’s the Holy Spirit. I call it a check in my Spirit. And, when I am prompted to do something, to take action, it’s God reminding me to be a doer of His word.
Unfortunately, we don’t always respond to God’s voice. Why is that? I know the times I have not responded was due to fear – fear of rejection, fear of looking silly or fear of failure. But, if we are truly walking in obedience to His word, our actions are to bring blessings to others. We’re here to be the light and we are called to be generous with our lives and open up to others. God’s not a secret to be kept. (Matthew 5:16, The Message).
God calls us to step out in faith and boldly share His word. When we shrink back due to our fears, we are no longer walking in obedience.
2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God did not create us with a spirit of fear and timidity but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. If I’m allowing fear to hold me back then I’m not reflecting God’s light, love, and promises. I’m reflecting just the opposite, and that is not my intention.
Being a Doer of God’s Word
Today, I ask you to join me in stepping out in faith each and every day and running the race He created us to run. And, by the way, if you’re not a huge runner like me, take steps, power walk through your fears and be a doer of God’s word. Let’s be doers together!
If you are in a difficult time and need some encouragement, please reach out so that I may pray for you.
In closing, I’d like to share a favorite quote from one of my favorite authors…
“Love bigger, fear smaller. Running into the arms of Jesus every single day.” Lisa Harper
Can I get an Amen?
Amen!!! Fear is my compass. I walk into the direction of uncertainty AND know I’m walking into an adventure and I’m not alone. God is the pilot and I trust HE will take me where HE wants me to be.
