3 Ways to Live Out Your Identity in Christ
Each morning, before the demands of the day flood your mind and invade your calendar, seek the Lord. Find a quiet, still, nook of the house to meet with God and start your day in His presence.
Start by asking Him to direct your quiet time and to speak to you in a fresh and powerful way. Then, open His Word and spend time in the Scripture. Reading the Bible doesn’t have to be overwhelming or confusing. Use a free Bible reading plan or guide to help you stay on track and process what you read in the Scriptures.
If you’re new to Bible study, start in the Gospels for a beautiful portrait of Jesus’ life and ministry. Begin your study by reading a few verses or one chapter at a time. You may wish to journal through what you learned in that passage and how you can apply it to your life. Then, spend time in prayer thanking God for His gift of grace and sharing your heart openly and honestly.
Remember, living your identity in Christ isn’t about perfection or a strict routine. It’s about starting the day by renewing your mind in Christ and refreshing your spirit for the day ahead.
“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.” Isaiah 55:6 (NIV)
Honor God with your lifestyle
We live in a modern world filled with diluted values and morals. Messages are coming at us from many venues – social media, television, radio, internet – and the noise is turned up to create chaos and distract you. If you’re not regularly seeking God and renewing your mind with His truths, it’s easy to allow the messages to confuse you and lead you astray. It’s at times like this you are tempted by the allure of the noise.
Yet, you have a choice to resist the temptation by choosing to honor God with your lifestyle. Pray through and set clear boundaries for yourself to guard your heart and mind. Stand firm in the decision you made to honor God with your life. Don’t be swayed by the trappings of beautiful words and pictures or false invitations promising joy and happiness.
Trust that God will supply you with the strength and self-control you need to stand firm in your commitment to honor Him with your life. As a result, God will bless your faithfulness, and you’ll appreciate the fact that His boundaries are given for your protection.
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41 (NIV)
Live free from guilt and shame of the past
As a daughter of the King, you are no longer bound to your mistakes of the past. You are FREE in Christ! Any shame, guilt, and burdens of the past have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus.
Satan wants nothing more than for you to continue to hide in the darkness out of fear and shame. Why? Because once he’s gained a stronghold, he intends to keep you hiding in your past to prevent you from furthering God’s plans for you. Satan will use your past to distract you from your God-given purpose. But, my dear friend, you have a choice, and I encourage you
Remember, you have been given the free gift of grace, and your future is a clean slate. The past no longer has a hold on you. You are a new creation so hold your head high and live in the freedom that Jesus has sacrificially poured out for you! It’s time to live free and embrace your new identity in the Lord!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
Don’t settle for less than God’s best
God has a beautiful plan for your life. The path of the Lord is filled with the joy and the hope of a glorious eternity in Heaven.

Resist the temptation to pave your own way and make your own path. His best far outweighs fleeting happiness and the rushed plans we create due to our impatience. Rest in His assurance and promises.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
